What You Will Need
A few thoughts and ideas for clean water ponds and alternative set ups.
First, what you will not need

What you will need

A flattish patio, decking or level ground, then maybe some plants in pots and garden ornaments etc to landscape the Silver Rainbow in
A simple example of how you might build a temporary clean water pond for your Jump Jet system
Although the Jump Jet system is unique among water features it has one major thing in common with all fountains, waterfalls and all other types of water feature: a need for clean water. Below we have showcased some experimental setups and we would love to create a gallery of your own creations. Please send your photos with details of your location (village, town or city) to:

Flat surface
A dedicated clean water supply is the ideal way to get the best out of your Jump Jet system.
A level base is essential, the picture shows a patio but decking or similar would do just as well.

Pond base
Your pond should ideally be a minimum 1.2m x 1.2m (4′ x 4′). You can use 4 x 1.2 lengths of 800mm x 50mm rough sawn timber.
Alternatively, non-mortared concrete blocks can be used.

Diagonal Pythagoras
Build your base in a square, checking that both diagonals are equal for a perfect square.
If you are interested in checking your measurements you might remember that Pythagoras’ theorem states: The square of the hypotenuse (longest side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the squares of the other 2 sides.

Corner Brackets
If building in wood, fix each corner brackets as shown (left). As the pressure from the water in a shallow pond should not be particularly great, if you build using concrete blocks you shouldn’t need to use mortar to fix the blocks.

Pond liner or visquene
Line the base with pond liner or, as shown in the picture, 1000 grade visquene. Ensure that you have enough liner to fit over the base,

Filling the pond
Fill the pond to a level that covers the intake of your pump by about 50mm.
Over time (in dry periods) you will need to top up the water level to ensure the pump intakes are still covered.
frequently asked questions
You questions answered about JumpJet garden water features.
1. Trouble-shooting
What if a nozzle blocks up?
If the water jet becomes distorted remove the guillotine / front housing using the
small hexagonal key. Take out the filters and tubing rinse in clean water and replace,
then replace the housing.
2. Electrical setup
Can the power supply/transformer be kept outside?
It is advisable to keep the power supply in either the house, garage, shed, green
house etc
How long is the electricity cable?
- From the mains socket to the power supply 90cm (min)
- From the power supply to the control box 8m (min)
Is the electricity cable dangerous?
From the mains to the supply is 240v and is dangerous, that is why we advise
keeping it indoors. After the power supply, the voltage is reduced to 15v and is quite
safe.
Where should I position with control box?
The control box is best kept as far away from the water as possible, thought the box
is weatherproof any extra cover is a good thing.
How many jets are there per kit?
4
How long is the cable for each jet from the control box?
4.5m (min).
Do you have a summary of the electrical set up?
See assembly guide page on our website.
3. Setting up the jets
How are the jets held in place?
Each nozzle has a stainless steel stand.
How do I fix the jets permanently?
If you wish to anchor the nozzle firmly we have supplied 8 stainless steel screws
with plastic plugs. Be careful not to puncture the pond membrane if using the screws.
How do I connect the hose?
We have supplied 4 screws on tap adaptors with push clip hose connectors.
Do you have a summary of how to set up the water flow?
See assembly guide page on our website.
What do I need in addition to my JumpJet kit?
A clean water pond, pump, and hose pipe. If you are using a garden pond then you
will need a thorough filtration system between the pond and the pump.
4. Pond water feature
I have a pond, where do I position the jets in the pond?
For the best effect the nozzles should be placed in a square pointing at each other
so that the jets cross in the middle.
In a pond, how far do I angle the JumpJets when in the water?
Make sure the exit hole of the nozzle is above the water line the fix the nozzle at
an angle that best suits your creation.
If I have a pond, do I need a filter system or filter pump?
If you are installing the Jump Jets in a normal pond it is essential that there is a
through filtration system between the pond and the pump.
5. Gravel water feature
If installing the Jump Jets in a gravel bed what sort of gravel can I use?
If you are using gravel any type will do, but be sure it has been thoroughly
cleaned.
6. Maintenance
If installing the Jump Jets in its own dedicated water supply, how can I keep this water free from algae?
To keep your water as clean as possible use a small net to fish out any airborne
debris, then there are many additives on the market that can be used to keep pond slim
and algae at bay.
